eMonetized September 07 Traffic Recap

It’s time for another monthly eMonetized traffic update!

Total Visits in September 2007: 3,144
19.34% Direct Traffic (was 12.76% last month.)
57.86% Referring Sites (was 74.27% last month.)
22.81% Search Engines (was 12.97% last month.)

Total visits to eMonetized dropped in September to 3,144 total visits. The John Chow banner ad contest held in August was big reason for the surge in that month. I also changed my banner on John Chow to an affiliate banner most of September rather than pointing the traffic directly to this blog. I would have been better off continuing to send traffic to this blog because unfortunately the affiliate offer only ended up generating a single sale.

A lot of you might be wondering if the several hundred dollars I spent of John Chow was worth it? The short answer is YES.

The total amount of visitors John Chow sent this blog in September was 660. If I had ran a banner pointing to to this blog the entire month the average CPC would have came to be $.60 per click. However that is not the case because I probably only had my own banner running on his website a couple weeks out of the month. My John Chow banner also ran for a few days in August and generated 915 clicks. This brings total traffic sent to eMonetized from John Chow to 1575 for an average of .25 per click. Because the banner pointing to eMonetized did not run for an entire month and I did not track as well as I should have, I would estimate the actual CPC to be around .20 which is exactly the average CPC Zac Johnson had. That’s a pretty good rate for targeted traffic.

I did not renew my ad on John Chow for October but am having second thoughts about not renewing. I now kind of wish I would have. It’s a tough decision considering I was not monetizing this blog much and my return on investment would be considered very long term. I did however purchase a banner ad spot on ShoeMoney but I’m not pointing traffic to this blog at the moment. I’m waiting to get the new design up and running.

Total Feed Subscribers up to Oct 01 was 347 (a 61 subscriber increase from August).

The Alexa Traffic Rank for emonetized.com as of today is 71,248 (was 82,188 in Sept). Take a look at the Alexa graph.

The Technorati Traffic Rank for emonetized.com as of today is 34,433 . (was 105,673 in July and 46,088 in September).

Technorati and Alexa rankings continue to increase. As usual, we are all still waiting on a long anticipated Google Page Rank update!

Earnings recaps will probably begin with the next monthly update because eMonetized will begin to be “monetized” with the release of a new design. Speaking of the new eMonetized design, I estimate Nate Whitehill and company will have it ready to go sometime next week. I’ve seen a preview and it’s going to be very nice!

As some of you are aware, my wife and I had a new baby girl on September 25. KateLyn Savannah Schroeder weighed 5 pounds 1 ounce and is still in the Neonatal intensive care unit. She had to be on oxygen and a feeding tube for awhile but she is off both of them now. We expect her to be able to come home in just a few more days. Her health should be fine but since she was born a little early at 34 weeks she just needed some time. My wife and I have been going back and forth to the hospital all week which is one of the reason my posts have slowed. Once she gets home and everything gets more back to normal I plan to get things back on track ASAP. Thank you for your patience. I’m happy that my subscriber count has not decreased despite my recent break in postings because of the new baby.
