Is Affiliate Marketing Leaving You Feeling Overwhelmed?

Today is a day I’m feeling a bit OVERWHELMED. It usually happens about once or twice a week. There is never enough time in the day! Sometimes I feel that even after my 12 hour work days that I have accomplished very little to put a dent in my to-do list.

You would laugh at how many stickies I have stuck all over my computer desk. Hmmm, lets count: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, plus an 8×11 piece of paper filled with more to-do notes. That’s no joke!

A few of the tasks include (in no particular order of importance):

1. Get ahead with some eMonetized posts to go live later in the week.

2. Do something with the Webmaster-Talk.com Blog I set up months ago but never got around to getting it off the ground.

3. Finish setting up a new marketplace section on WT.

4. Work on new website for a particular software product I already succcessfully promote.

5. Work on getting new links to multiple websites.

6. Put a webmaster directory I purchased over a year ago on a new domain.

7. Sell some of my keyword domains that I own but probably will never do anything with.

8. Help wife setup new website for a baby shower ebook she created.

9. Work on new website and blog for a hot new product.

10.Finish the setup of ReadyFreelancers.com and launch.

11. Get Haircut.

12. Andy Beard gave me a days worth of work to do.

The list goes on and on…………

I’m a sticky junky. The problem is that once I throw away one sticky there is sometimes two more to replace it! I’ve been thinking lately that I really need to do a better job of prioritizing projects. I need to sell or abandon projects that don’t yield a good monetary return on time.

I often try and do too many projects at once. When this happens I end up doing several things with a half-ass effort and many projects never reach there full potential if at at.

I think it’s time to outsource a little more. It’s time to scrap old projects and focus on the projects that might make the most money. It’s time to spend more time improving revenue on already successful websites rather than letting them run on auto-pilot most of the time. It’s time to quit starting new projects if I can’t finish them or end up making a lazy effort.

My question to you is how do YOU prioritize your to-do lists, projects and schedules?

    I haven’t come up with a decent way of organizing my workload just yet, but I think my own system will be a hybrid between David Allen’s “Getting Things Done” and Ryan Carson’s system. David Allen’s GTD system seems rather unwieldy and needs a good 3 or 4 hours per week spent just organizing and prioritizing your work. I’m sure it works really well if you are highly disciplined. Ryan Carson’s tips are a lot more simple and I think I would lean towards this style of time management. Check out Ryan’s GTD Tips video that is close to the bottom of his page.

    The 80:20 rule definitely applies to SEO and it is one of the reasons I certainly don’t have everything from the list applied to all of my sites.

    It is also why I occasionally do paid reviews on my blog, which in themselves create some cornerstone content, but I turn down guest blogging (even paid) & consulting work on a daily basis.

    I use the Yahoo! Notepad widget to organize my tasks. The nice thing is if I’m away from my computer I can still access the notes through Yahoo!

    Have you thought of making this site the/a blog for Webmaster Talk? Maybe something to consider.
