I think no follow is pointless, almost spiteful.
Askimet does remove the majority of my spam as well. I follow as a reward to my readers who chose to comment.

I also put do follow on my blog and it makes me feel tired to erase spam comments but it is ok. I want my readers to receive backlinks from me.

I’m glad wordpress bloggers are following the dofollow movement. I think its great as long as people don’t bombard you with comments like I always get on my blogs. Really annoys me when I get the same comment posted like 10 times that says “I don’t fully understand, but I get your point.” So many times I receive this comment from the same user too. Quite annoying.

I just learned about this little trick on youtube and it seems to be getting some real good attention. I hope people are making commments based on what they really think rather just for the link love. In other words I hope it doen’t takeaway from the good comments.

Honestly speaking if you have a moderator who is up on the job of moderating the blog then I don’t think that you need a “no follow” attribute. Also just think about those people who genuinely comment and want to be recognized. Some way or the other websites are looking out for ways to generate traffic and it can happen only when you let the comment be recognized by the blogs. The search engine ranking aspect comes much later.

i just started blogging about 2 months ago and just discovered the do follow movement a couple of weeks ago. i’ve had a website for several years and i must say i think that bloggers are so much more generous with their links. its hell trying to get any links to my website. so i’m happy to be a blogger now. and my blog is do follow.

Spam is pretty much regular though, even with nofollow I still get spam, nowadays I still get the same amount even with dofollow installed. The only difference is, I get a lot of commenters with anchor links as their nicknames
