Major DirectTrack Technical Issues

Posted on February 04, 2009 by Tim Schroeder

Just a heads up that EVERY affiliate network running direct track is having problems today.

I can’t not login to any affiliate network running directtrack and none of my affiliate links are working.

It’s been down for me at least an hour now and had probably cost me a few hundred dollars before I noticed the problem.

You would assume that a giant like DirectTrack would have multiple backup servers.

UPDATE: I was just able to login to one network but when I tried to look at stats, it quit loading again. Seems like some sort of DOS attack or something but I don’t know…

Yea, I was told by an AM that it was a DDOS attack on DirectTrack. I also lost a bunch during that time. Ah, the excitement of being an AM.

i’ve had this happen once before about 12 months ago but it is very unusual, i think they need to have a serious review of their security/vulnerability to internet virus software

Who DDOS’d it and why? I mean usualy sites get DDOS’s either for political/religious reasons or for fun. I understand that the competition would benefit from DirectTrack being down but I wouldn’t expect any serious company to be behind ddos-ing their competitors.

The service that’s based on the internet should be able to defent itself. I mean people are losing money just because they don’t know what to do. I hope they’ll offer some kind of refund for the lost time.

I don’t believe that it is a consequence that ALL affiliates marketing programs are having tracking issues. In fact, I believe the true reason behind this is that they are responsible for at least 25% of shaving leads and or sales. I know this for a FACT> Marketleverage is also one of the affiliate market programs that also participate in this unethical practice. I know this is true, due to the large amount of bloggers stating this online that their stats are different from the affiliate marketers stats.

Marketleverage even admitted to me that they particpate in the shaving, as I called an “leader” and ask them how come they allowed campaigns that had a ‘contact caption page’ on the first main page. If a person puts in this info and decide not to follow through with the sale, the advertiser gets a FREE lead and you don’t get paid for it. and guess what? marketleverage also gets paid $5 for this lead, while you get paid nothing. When the leader told me this, “I think he let it slip”, I was baffled and outraged.

I asked him did he think this was fair, and he didn’t reply. So when I called him back….he didn’t answer the phone. These affiliate programs are only using their affiliates, and while many of them do pay to affiliates on a regular basis, you better believe whatever amount you receive, your suppose to get double the amount! Ugh…that is why I sale my own products.

So? Did they give out any compensation? I’ve been considering signing up but I don’t know what to expect in case of any trouble.

Yes, I’ve heard about this probvlem with Direct Track. A few minutes of problem in Internet marketing would cost you a great deal. It’s bad that DirectTrack was down for more than an hour. This thing would probably happen again. So why not shift to other affiliate marketing and tracking services? Direct Track seems to be unreliable.
