Before I get to my rant about a rant and another rant I want to say that I’m still around. I’ve been real busy trying to get some old to-do list items finished up and working on some new projects.
I’m trying hard not to end up one of those “what ever happened to…” blogs. For example, whatever happened to Daily Web Ideas? Just when that blog started doing pretty well Jane sort of disappeared and quite posting. And what ever happened to Derek Beau? His blog had great content and was really catching steam. Derek, what happened to ya buddy?
I have no doubt that my RSS subcriber count would easily be past 1000 now (instead of around 500) if I stuck to a more regular posting schedule and followed through with some case studies I had planned to do. But I’m going to be completely honest and tell you that my motivation to keep blogging is pretty low right now.
While eMonetized does make a small amount of revenue from ad sales and affiliate links that is not really why I blog here. Although I might not be the best at it, I like to write and I like to help others. The problem is that I usually don’t feel like I have time to write and that makes me not enjoy it. It feels more like a chore.
Anyhow, I am not going to stop blogging. However, from now on, I am not going to worry about trying to keep a regular posting schedule or how often I make a blog post. eMonetized is a long-term side-project for me. There will be times when things slow down and I have more time for blogging and times when I don’t. I’d love for you to remain a subscriber and thank you for doing so. If not, then goodbye and best wishes to you.
I think I just finished a rant that was not the “another rant” I intended to make. Here is my rant about a rant.
Did anyone catch this thread written by Jon, the owner of WickedFire.com? He sort of continues his rant here on his blog. Even though he claims the post was not written intended to be linkbait (and I believe him) it obviously turned out to be so. I don’t know Jon (the thread starter) personally and I guess there is the chance that he is actually a good guy. I’m just writing this based on perception. The guy certainly knows how to make enemies and his most recent post is just one of many examples.
There is some truth to parts of his rant but the personal attacks are not needed in my opinion. He comes off like a really angry guy. I didn’t necessarily view ShoeMoney as a Super Affiliate but rather a clearly successful Internet Entrepreneur. I read his blog for entertainment. I think John Chow was deemed a super affiliate well before he was one (I think he could probably admit that) but he has certainly learned a lot during his journey over the past two years. I certainly wish I had a single blog making 25k+ profit a month. Again, John Chow is a very successful guy and also seems to be very likable. I’d like to meet him one day in person. There are a lot of ways to make money online that has little to do with affiliate marketing. For example, selling ad space on a successful forum. You don’t have to be an affiliate marketing expert to do well online.
I don’t know what Jon has against Amit? It’s not the first time he has attacked this blogger. Amit is clearly a super affiliate. His blog is mainly meant to be an inspirational one but a few nice tips are thrown in here and there. They could be especially helpful to a beginner.
Lastly, I do not consider myself a super affiliate (others might) but I do make a nice living doing affiliate marketing. What exactly makes you a “super affiliate” anyway? 10k a month profit? 20k a month profit? 30K?… Everyone has their own opinion. I’d consider anyone making over $25,000 a month profit a “super affiliate.” But really, who cares! Having money makes things easier but true happiness has nothing to do with how much money you make. I always want to make more money but not so I can be labeled as a super affiliates or something like that. For me it’s about the freedom having money brings. Working under bosses and joining the rat race has never been for me.
End of rant and misc ramblings… ![]()

I think you are absolutely right. On both points, that is. I’ve encountered the same problem when I was blogging on a regular base. Other things were more important to me.
And Jon, he usually exaggerates things a little bit. I like his rants though
I used to get really stressed to keep a regular posting schedule to my blogs. Now I tend to work on a few different posts at a time and then post them in chunks so when someone visits the site there are a few things for them to read.
Trying to write great content on a schedule is hard if you dont have the time to do it.
Good to see you back. I’ve been following this thing and it just seems to be blown out of proportion.
I would resemble that remark (the time it takes to write being a chore). Otherwise, I would post way more often.
Jon can give some great advice, but I like reading his stuff less and less.
I’m starting to think there’s even another level after super affiliates…. maybe “Turbo-affiliates” or “Ultra-affiliates” haha.
I’ll be back sometime. A handful of unexpected things came up last fall and my motivation was swayed away from internet business towards having fun and personal development. That’s why I haven’t been writing on my blog. I’ll be graduating from college relatively soon and don’t want to ever have to get a day job, so you can be fairly certain that I’ll be back!
Happens to everyone, I’ve posted 20 in a day and none for a week though not on a real blog, it doesn’t damage a non-blog site as much
First time reader, I like what I see !
I think each individual has there own agenda for there blog, and there own terms to define if it is a success or not. Whether you are a super affiliate or just a blogger getting by it does come down to trying to avoid the rat race.
I was wondering what happened to Derek too. I went looking the other day and the last post was one I read months ago. I know blogging doesn’t make me as much as hiding behind the scenes as an affiliate, but I see a day coming up where that may be different. Maybe for him it was the same and he just stopped. Who knows?
I absolutely agree.
Anyhow it is very difficult if results do not come. Even though every one knows that you need to blog full time for at least one year to start seeing results!

I always try to post regularly, but sometimes I have a writer’s block and I don’t want to create crap posts. So I can totally understand why those bloggers disappeared.
How’s it going with the Blogging motivation? I know you wrote this back in Feb but thought I’d check in and see if things have improved. I noticed the ring tones campaign is keeping you busy buddy, keep blogging I think this site is superb and I like you honesty.
